Discover Three Blacksmiths

If you're looking for a cozy, charming spot to grab a bite in the heart of Sperryville, VA, then Three Blacksmiths is definitely a place to check out. Located at 20 Main St, Sperryville, VA, this quaint restaurant delivers not just on food but on the whole dining experience, offering a delightful combination of flavors, a rustic ambiance, and impeccable service.

Walking into Three Blacksmiths feels like stepping into a warm embrace. The welcoming interior, with its exposed beams and vintage-inspired decor, sets the perfect mood for a relaxed meal. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, the atmosphere here is inviting and unpretentious. The restaurant strikes a balance between casual dining and fine cuisine, which makes it an ideal spot for both date nights and casual meals with friends or family.

One of the standout features of Three Blacksmiths is its menu. Focused on farm-to-table freshness, the restaurant takes great pride in sourcing its ingredients locally. This means you’ll get a real taste of the Virginia countryside, with seasonal produce and meats that support local farmers. You’ll find a blend of Southern-inspired dishes, classic comfort food, and a few inventive twists that keep things exciting. The menu changes frequently based on what's available, ensuring each visit offers something new.

A must-try dish is the seared duck breast, which is cooked to perfection and served with a rich, flavorful sauce. If you're in the mood for something lighter, the roasted beet salad with goat cheese is a refreshing, vibrant option that pairs beautifully with the house-made vinaigrette. There’s also a variety of sides to choose from, like their crispy Brussels sprouts or perfectly roasted potatoes, that complement any entrée.

For dessert, the chocolate cake is a crowd favorite-decadent and rich, yet light enough to leave you craving just a little bit more. If you're not in the mood for cake, the fruit cobbler made with whatever's fresh that day is also a fantastic choice.

While the food is undoubtedly the star of the show, the service at Three Blacksmiths truly sets it apart. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to make recommendations. Whether you're new to the area or a frequent visitor, they make you feel like part of the family. They’re also great at accommodating dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a satisfying meal.

The location itself is a key part of the restaurant's charm. Sperryville is a small, historic town that’s a perfect getaway for a day trip or weekend excursion. Nestled near the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s a great spot to visit if you’re looking to explore the outdoors before enjoying a meal. You can spend your day hiking, then come down to Three Blacksmiths to unwind with a delicious, home-cooked meal.

The reviews consistently highlight the high-quality food, the rustic charm of the restaurant, and the personal touch that the owners and staff bring to every visit. It’s a place where people come for the food but stay for the experience.

What’s especially impressive is that despite the more refined menu, Three Blacksmiths never feels pretentious. It’s clear that they’re about providing great food in a relaxed environment. They’re not trying to be the most expensive place in town or the trendiest hotspot-they simply want to serve delicious, high-quality dishes that everyone can enjoy.

If you’re in the area and looking for a place that combines fantastic food with a welcoming atmosphere, Three Blacksmiths is definitely worth a visit. It’s one of those places where you can come in with a group, share a meal, and leave feeling like you’ve just made a new set of friends. • This place has created such an amazing dinner experience. Everything was presented with perfection. The description of each dish and pairing drink (we got one alcoholic and one zero proof) was so interesting, especially since a lot of the ingredients are locally harvested. It was truly a delight. Take your time, talk, enjoy the whole experience, one bite at a time.

  • This restaurant should be on your bucket list. It is definitely a special experience and one you should not miss. The menu changes weekly and they use locally sourced meat and produce. There is only one seating per evening and you feel like a king and queen here. Highly highly highly recommend!!!

  • We were the last group coming in for our reservation (which was 2 years in the making) and the last to leave three hours later. From start to end, the evening was a treat. The dishes were creative and unbelievable and they were so accommodating to me not eating meat. The team was communicative, wear and professional. The music was from “our generation”, which led to an informal atmosphere and at one point in time, I found myself softly humming along to Ripple :-). We did the half-pour wine pairing and a cocktail at the start of dinner, and we can’t imagine doing the full pour as we teetered down the street to Hopkins Ordinary. We had such a lovely time at the Three Blacksmiths and highly recommend it.

  • My wife and I had been wanting to try this place for years, and we were lucky enough to finally get a reservation for my birthday. It was absolutely worth the wait. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. One detail that really stood out was the zero-proof pairing menu. As someone who doesn’t drink, I’m used to getting a token mocktail or two—nothing special. But here, each pairing was clearly designed with the same creativity and care as the rest of the menu. The flavors were really interesting and they elevated the meal instead of feeling like an afterthought. That alone set the experience apart. Every dish was unique, surprising, and genuinely exciting. The kitchen isn’t just cooking well—they’re telling a story with each course. The flavors were layered, the presentation was beautiful, and everything tasted incredible. It’s rare to have a meal where every single course delivers, but this one did. Overall, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. For a special occasion—or honestly, for anyone who loves thoughtful, imaginative food—this is a place that truly lives up to the hype. We’ve already made our next reservation.

  • The Three Blacksmiths was a beautiful and unexpected surprise! Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, there aren't even street lights in the town! The 3B is warm and inviting with an open dining area that feels cozy but not too crowded. The small team of chefs and servers flowed throughout the service and the Chef and owner made sure to spend time at every table. The food was delightful with some surprises here and there. Like any tasting menu, expect to spend hours savoring your experience. We went home with full tummies and smiles on our faces with the hopes of going back to visit again soon.

  • We eat here every year for my birthday and it never disappoints. The food is creative and delicious. The wine pairings are spot on. The service is attentive without being overbearing. Jake and Sara have assembled a fantastic team. This place is an absolute gem. I cannot recommend highly enough...a fabulous dining experience!

  • This review will be short, as many others have written lengthy reviews and I have little to add. The food was beyond delicious, from the bread to the dessert and everything between. The service was warm and attentive without feeling overbearing. The space was smartly arranged, intimate without being crowded. In short: go online, make the next reservation that's available (might be many months for a weekend slot), drive to Sperryville, and have an incredible meal. You will not regret it.
